My photographic projects revolve around urban development. The past contribution ‘Recreation Now’ depicts serial housing phenomena in numerous European vacation resorts. With the series ‘Plastic Habitat’, my interest extended to residential development. It provides a photographic insight into the absurd urbanisation of the desert in Dubai with a focus on master planned townhouse communities outside the city center. Serial uniformity, manufactured nature and an often gated character run like a common thread through the residential enclaves. With long-term exposures at night, I want to reflect upon the melding of the natural and the constructed, depicting a reality that is seemingly artificial.
