For the second time, photography of the Australian HeadOn festival will be shown at IPFL. The thirty finalist of the Mobile Prize Award 2015 can be seen on screens in the Burchtzaal of the Hooglandse Kerk.
The Mobile Prize is a separate category at HeadOn. This new category was created because smartphones make it possible for anyone to take photos, amateurs as well as professional photographers. The jury judged the participants anonymously, that way amateurs and professionals are judged without prejudice. This succeeded. The selection consists of Australian and international photographers, but laso up and coming talent.
HeadOn is held every year in May and is the biggest photo festival in Australia. HeadOn and the International Photo Festival Leiden worked together for the first time in 2014. That year, photography of up and coming Australian talent was shown on digital screens in the centre of Leiden. In May of this year, work of 20 selected photographers of IPFL 2014 was exhibited in Sydney.
